Find a coach who can teach you EVERYTHING about auditioning. I don't just teach you how to sing or find the right song, I teach you practical skills like dancing, acting, audition strategies, and business practices to help you get that first professional job even if you are starting from scratch.

Your frustration is valid. Here's Why...

You really want to get on stage and sing in front of an audience night after night...
...but you can't even get noticed at auditions to show them what you can do. What's the point of working so hard, if no one is even going to give you a chance?

I Know....

I've been there before and I know how it feels when you hear nothing back from theaters and you start to wonder...
hmmm.JPG
...are you missing something? I'm here to help you figure it all out so that you're not alone.

If you are a singer, pursuing musical theatre at a pro level...here's what I learned.

Tina Headshot 2.jpg

Hello There,

I’m Tina and I am a professional musical theater triple threat performer who started from scratch at the age of 21. I felt like I was too late to even dream of becoming a professional. On top of not knowing anything about singing, dancing, or acting, I barely had money to pay for training or coaching since I was still in college trying to figure my life out. So I understand when you want to pursue a career in performing, but the upfront cost seems intimidating.

Yet, giving up was not an option for me and I'm sure it's not for you either. Being afraid of losing money at the beginning won't help you book a paying gig if you don't invest in yourself to get better.

I knew I wanted to perform, but with no financial understanding of having a performing business, I was living very poorly with little to eat and tried to save up everything I had to make my dreams happen. From paying for lessons to paying for dance classes and working at community theaters that were just not paying me anything for all the hard work I did.

Although it was fun to start at a community theater level for the experience, it wasn’t where I wanted to be, sometimes the people aren't as serious, and I wasn’t getting paid enough to do all three skills the more I improved. I wanted to afford a living so that I'm not worried about the next show and be happy.

I got TIRED of not getting paid for performing. I realized I was worth more if I was hired to put on quality performances for an audience. Sometimes I got a stipend. Even if you do get a stipend, it's not enough to help you pay for your financial needs. The myth is that if you are an artist you have to live a "starving artist life" when that is not true at all. There are plenty of theaters out there that will not only pay for you to be in their shows, but you will get a food stipend, travel stipend, and housing. You just need to know where to look and have the connections.

Here's where you can make a living doing theater. My paycheck was different when offered a show depending on the level of skill I had. If you don't have a lot of expertise in your skills, your pay is technically going to be less, just like any other job. However, if you are a performer who can do singing, dancing, and acting really well and it's what a theater is looking for, but can't find anywhere else, that is where you'll earn the paycheck you've been working hard for and be able to negotiate rehearsal times and travel stipend. By becoming an in-demand performer, you become a limited edition that all theaters want but can't have. Not everyone can do all three skills and that is why I'm offering my coaching program that other coaches can't.

Eventually, I had the SKILLS, but I wasn't getting seen until I did THIS!

Do you go to a professional open call with all the other Non-Union performers and then get turned away after hours of waiting? How are you going to get your chance at being seen, if you don't even get in the door? We worry too much about getting the "perfect " audition song, or the "perfect" audition outfit and so the focus is in the wrong place to become a professional. There is a method and a strategy for auditioning that is not taught at colleges or conservatories, but I figured it out once I shifted my perspective about performing.

What if I told you, you can become one of those performers who get to skip that line and not wait for hours at open calls anymore?

Imagine being ASKED to come audition instead of waiting.

Would you like to know how to be invited to auditions? Do you want to know how you can skip the open call line and get seen at Equity/AEA auditions?

Now, I don’t blame the theaters, because I owned a theater and time is money when you have to rent out an audition space. Not everyone can be seen in one day. When you do get seen, you get so nervous you mess up your song and dance steps. Instead, I can show you a way where you no longer get turned away from auditions and actually get seen. Even better, you can stop getting REJECTED and get ACCEPTED.

Tina%2520Connie_edited_edited_edited.jpg

Next thing you know, you'll be ASKED TO BE IN A SHOW.

How does that sound?

Wouldn't it be nice to not feel desperate for a show anymore and be on the OFFER ONLY list? You know those type of performers who never have to audition and just get a phone call to be in productions. Wouldn't it be nice if that was YOU?

This is not just for musical theatre even though that is my main focus. This can be applied to cruise line auditions, theme parks, seasonal gigs, and more. There's more to performing than just singing and I'll share with you how I did it.

My plan is to help you find out what is not working when you audition and develop a solid foundation in performing so that you don't have to feel like it's just a hobby anymore.

Student Success
Story

Sarah V Dogfight.jpg

From beginner to professional, here’s a special spotlight on a student who has worked very hard for the past two years and booked her first paid regional professional show in Sonora, California. This is a HUGE deal because by booking a show at this particular theater she will not only get paid to work there, and get housing, but she will also start accumulating Equity points which will make her an Equity Membership Candidate. On top of that, she is also understudying a LEAD ROLE. What's even better....she already got another offer for the next show!

Do you want to know the strategy that was taught to Sarah that helped her book her first paid professional show?

The industry is so saturated...

...but it doesn't have YOU.

There are enough theater wannabes out there wishing to make it big, but do absolutely NOTHING about it to get there.

You, on the other hand, have talent and have the drive to do what it takes to be above others and win at life.

...so how come you're still playing the waiting game at auditions?

This coaching program is for you if...
  • You finally want to make performing your full-time job and it's not some hobby.

  • You are tired of being a "starving artist" and want to receive more paid offers as a performer.

  • You want to become a true triple-threat performer that theaters call when they need talent.

  • You want to be asked to come to auditions and not wait for hours in line at an open call.

  • You dream to be more confident at auditions so that you don't feel intimidated by other people anymore.

My Clients are singers, dancers, actors, and artists who want to be the best at what they do and serve their audience with quality performances on stage.

Sarah L Spring Recial 2022.png

Whether you are new to performing or experienced, what all clients have in common is the passion for growth in their skills, the discipline to challenge themselves beyond their limitations, and they are committed to taking action rather than sitting on the sidelines watching others do what they can do themselves.

My clients don't make excuses and they prefer to go after their dreams no matter what it takes. They understand that it takes actual effort to see results and that it's not an overnight success. By trusting in the process, both my clients and I can put 100% of our efforts together to make their goals become achievable. We don't just wish for it, we go after it.

Here's the truth...

...you don't have to be the best singer or the best dancer to book a pro show. But you do need to be the BEST person for the job.

...so how do you show them that you ARE right for the job?

Don't worry...I'll explain

You need to be the BEST musical theatre performer, not just a singer or a dancer...and good preparation for auditions is the key to success.
What happens when you are prepared?
You won't get nervous and you will look like you know what you are doing compared to everyone else who seems flustered and worried.

Don't you want to show them you are qualified to be in a professional production?

You might be wondering...

Connie Wong at Sierra Rep photo by Jerry Lee.jpg
"...is this coaching program what I really need?"
Here's the answer...
...you know you can do it on your own, but you're not having any luck with these auditions because...
...you are BURNT OUT from auditioning everywhere with no results. I've already gone through the struggles of auditioning and worked at enough theaters to show you exactly what you need to do, so you don't have to do it alone and waste your time trying to figure it out.

Have you ever...

...paid to go to an expensive conservatory to learn in a group setting, but you don't get any individual training that can actually help you?
That's why I want to give YOU my full attention and tell you exactly what you need to nail your auditions and get you to book your dream show.

I'll be your personal trainer, coach, cheerleader, and agent giving you all the tools you need to become a professional triple-threat musical theatre performer.

This is what you won't get anywhere else...

Most singers struggle to book a musical because of one more obstacle....
The dancing!
Not all roles require dancing, but you do need to show you can MOVE.

Through my coaching program, I'll be creating customized choreography for you that you will learn with me during our sessions and film it so that you have a dance reel made to your level that no one else can copy.

TESTIMONIAL

"As an actor first, I always go into musical theatre auditions hoping that casting will just watch me and not listen to me during vocal auditions. The reason why I started voice training was that I wanted to be able to get past those auditions and get called back or even push through to the dance call auditions. Since taking Tina’s lessons, I have been able to walk into vocal auditions with more confidence and preparedness with song choices and vocal technique. What I enjoy about taking voice lessons is knowing someone is on your side to cheer you on, prepare you for the musical theatre world, help you where you need help, and converse with a professional who understands the performer’s perspective on everyday life and career drive."

- Sarah V.

Take a look...

...at choreography that can compliment YOU.
Since video submissions are more popular than ever for casting, having a dance reel ready on top of singing reels will set you apart from others and THIS will make you ONE OF A KIND.

I'm not like other vocal coaches....
because there is more to musical theatre than just singing. I'll train you how to sing, dance, and act no matter what level you are at.

This experience is incomparable:

1. Get clear on what you need to do to level up your auditions and performing career

2. Pinpoint what skills you lack and hyperfocus on improving those skills

3. Set realistic goals that are appropriate for your experience level and get you ready to train

4. Homework and training materials are sent to you so that you stay accountable and stay on track

5. Receive support even after appointments such as audition notices from local theaters near you

6. Work on ways to perform with less stress and have ease of mind to nail your auditions

7. Work together to prepare you for your next step, like more vocal training or continue working on your audition book.

8. Get you comfortable auditioning in front of others and boost your confidence by giving you all the tools you need to know about the industry.

I'll be honest, it's not for everyone...

The coaching program will only accept serious performers who already know this is the career they want. The ones who are successful will have the work ethic, discipline, and passion for this training. If you know this is just a hobby for you, my program is not for you.

During the 6 Months...

  • Meet up online and train every week on your vocals, dancing, and acting

  • Discuss audition strategies

  • Learn how to get paid as a performer

  • Get feedback on your self-tapes

  • Exclusive training materials made just for you and only you

Please note that I will only take 2 clients at a time to make sure I put all my efforts into creating a personalized coaching program for each person.

How Does It Work?

Performance Preparatory is an intensive style of private coaching for musical theatre performers to receive a certification that will recognize them as someone who is considered "trusted" for professional theater work. It will be a 1:1 experience online where students get my full attention to discuss specific needs about their performing career and receive actual training in singing, dancing, and acting. During these sessions, we will get you ready for auditions with practice materials and setting deadlines for filming your audition tapes. Students are trained to become reliable triple-threat performers. If one of my feedback is for you to gain more vocal training before we can prepare you for auditions, you will be offered a spot on my private voice lesson schedule.

What To Prepare

For the consultation call, you will come prepared with one song ready to sing and I'll be evaluating if this coaching program is for you. Treat it like an audition. If you don't have any songs, you are completely new to performing, and that is why you are looking to train with me, we will discuss that during the call and plan what your next steps are.

Perks For Working 1:1

  • Invites to all performances such as recitals, showcases, concerts, and more as long as you stay an active student on the roster by continuing sessions throughout the year.

  • Get priority seating to masterclasses, intensives, and workshops.

  • Get priority seating to occasional dance classes, mock audition workshops, mock dance calls, and acting classes as part of their musical theatre training.

  • Receive unlimited support from me even after lesson appointments. Students who are going for musical theatre will get updates on audition notices and casting calls I see happening around their local area. Possibly national tours or out-of-state gigs.

  • Receive unlimited audition self-tape audits when you are currently taking lessons. Send in your audition video to receive feedback on how to make it better.

  • Get priority over nonstudents on the waitlist for private voice lessons to help with vocal training and conditioning.

Become a full-time performer with a thriving career doing what you love.

Remember that it's not about the money at the end of the day, but you don't need to be a "starving artist" either. It's about the standard you want to be at, the community you want to be in, and the level of commitment you want to put into your art to make it the best it can be. That's what truly loving musical theatre is all about.

Step 1: Fill Out The Application

Step 2: Schedule the Consultation

Step 3: Plan for Next Steps

F.A.Q

How long is the coaching program?

Technically, it will be a 12-month process. The first 6 months will be training every week to get you ready for auditions. After completion of the program, you'll get the invite to the private Facebook group, and for the next 6 months, I'll personally be sending you auditions and having you go out to audition for those shows. We won't meet up every week after completing the program, and you won't need to pay at all during this period, but I will be your support and guide afterward to make sure you stay on top of the auditioning. If you want to continue training after the initial 6 months, we can continue with private voice lessons and meet up every week. You and I will discuss when the coaching will actually begin after the consultation and go from there.

What age are you taking?

I will train any age, adult, teen, or kid as long as the maturity level and serious mindset are there. This coaching program is only for those who can handle training every week to become a professional. For kids, parents or a legal guardian will need to be present during the training the entire time to take notes and supervise.

How do I earn the certificate of achievement at the end of the program?

There will be an evaluation at the end of the coaching program, it's basically a mock audition to see if you have retained what you learned during our sessions. This is where I determine if you uphold the standards of performing for professional theater. Please do not stress with this evaluation, it is a great way to test your skills and prove to yourself that you can do so much more. If I see that you still need more training, we can discuss that after the evaluation.

What will you actually teach?

I will be teaching singing, dancing, and acting along with audition strategies, business practices, theater etiquette, and casting secrets. I believe that musical theatre performers need both a vocal reel and a dance reel to be truly successful at getting hired. Therefore, I will be creating customized choreography for you to learn during our dance sessions. For singing, we will find the right audition songs for you or enhance the audition songs you already have.

How do you cater to each person's level?

Every client will be different since I will meet you where your level of experience is at. If you are mainly a singer, but not a dancer, then your coaching will be customized to focus on polishing your songs without needing to go to relearn vocal technique and we will work on making your dance better by starting with the basics. If you are mainly a dancer, but you have trouble passing the singing auditions, then we will focus on vocals and you'll learn choreography faster rather than learning the basics.

How is this different from just voice lessons with you?

This coaching program will focus on completing materials for audition submissions by enhancing your singing, dancing, and acting for better chances of getting an offer at professional theaters. The difference is, you get the dance training and the financial guidance to make sure you continue a career in performing. I truly believe that musical theatre performers should know both singing and dancing to have a thriving career in the industry. Not every show requires both skills, but the likelihood of you getting more offers and higher pay is to exhibit more than one performing skill. Therefore, those who are part of this program should have some experience and technical skills already so that we go straight into finding audition songs and learning choreography. If you don't have technical vocal skills yet, that is when I will suggest you take a few months of private voice lessons with me first before we can begin the Performance Preparatory Musical Theatre Audition coaching.

Do I need to have experience already?

Yes and no. Although this program is for performers who have experience already, you can certainly apply for the program if you are interested in performing full-time. Professional does not mean advanced. If you are a beginner, this program can still work for you. If I see that you need more vocal training during our consultation, I will offer you a spot on my private voice lesson schedule and start you off there. There will be other options if this isn't the right fit for you now. I won't leave you hanging.

What happens if I need to reschedule a session?

You can easily email me your conflict and we will work something out! Since payment is made upfront every month, you can make adjustments if needed. However, I do not encourage canceling any sessions or it will affect the outcome of your training and the outline of my program has specific steps that clients need to take to make an impression at auditions.

Can you guarantee that I book a show?

No, I cannot guarantee that you will book every show you audition for. All I can guarantee is having all materials ready for submission so that you are seen as someone professional with proficient skills to offer. That is all. Success is determined by how hard you work and how much time you put into training and auditioning. I cannot control casting and I do not know exactly what each theater's preferences are when it comes to casting for their shows. Sometimes a director might call me to ask about a client, but if the client does not meet my expectations to be in a professional production, I will be honest with my answer. That is why the program is designed in a specific way to not only help you improve your skills but to also create a connection that I feel comfortable referring to theaters.
